As you know, we left Thursday evening to go to Gatlinburg, TN for The Gatlinburg Gathering. It was so much fun! We checked in the hotel that night and just un-wound for a little bit. Then the next morning, the hustle and bustle began. We set up my booth and then The Cookes came with the group stuff later that afternoon and we set up the group booth. We were excited that we got to be right beside the booth where a professional artist would be every night. That is, when a group would come and set up and sing one night, then tear down the same night and head on to their next booking. The group that was there Friday night was... The Perrys! The group that loaded in Saturday night was, my friends, The Collingsworth Family! It was really good to get to see them again and catch up on things. I love these people so much!! They are awesome! The next group that was beside of us was The Booth Brothers!! They are top-notch; and they are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

Along with all the "big" groups that I've come to know personally and admire, I, along with the girls, got to be reunited with some up-and-coming groups that we hadn't seen in a long time. We had some wonderful conversations with The Wisecarvers (from Tennessee), a group called Total Praise Quartet (from Greenville, SC), and Third Generation (also from TN.) All of these groups are absolutely wonderful!

I've posted some pictures at the bottom of this entry. Enjoy! :)

Leaving!

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything about what's been going on in my life. I can sum it all up with one word... BUSY! Going somewhere all the time whether it's school (only 11 more days!!!!! :D Then I will be thru with high school!!!!!!!! YAY!!!), going to the school where I work (Heritage Christian School), or traveling and singing. It's always something all the time! But it's wonderful and I love every second of it. :)

This weekend is going to be CRAZY! We're leaving in just a few minutes to go to Gatlinburg, TN, to go to The Gatlinburg Gathering. It's a 3 night concert with groups like The Hoppers, The Talley Trio, Gold City, The Booth Brothers, just to name a few! Blood Bought is going to sing on the showcase stage on Sunday night. Please pray for God's anointing to be on us. If we win, we will be privileged to sing one song on the MAIN stage! The groups that will be on mainstage the night are The Booth Brothers, Karen Peck & New River (I love her so much! She is SO sweet!!), Triumphant Quartet, my good friends Third Generation, and Kirk Talley. I am so excited I can hardly wait!! I'll post about our time up there hopefully next week. ;)

Love y'all much!!
-Jacob
Pro. 3:9

Church Feud

There was a feud between the Pastor and the Choir Director of the Hicksville Christian Church. It seems the first hint of trouble came when the Pastor preached on 'Dedicating Yourselves to Service' and the Choir Director chose to sing:
'I Shall Not Be Moved'.

Trying to believe it was a coincidence, the Pastor put the incident behind him. The next Sunday he preached on 'Giving.' Afterwards, the choir squirmed as the director led them in the hymn:
'Jesus Paid It All'.

By this time, the Pastor was losing his composure. Sunday morning attendance swelled as the tension between the two built. A large crowd showed up the next week to hear his sermon on 'The Sin of Gossiping.' Would you believe the Choir Director selected the song:
'I Love To Tell The Story'?

There was no turning back. The following Sunday the Pastor told the congregation that unless something changed, he was considering resignation. The entire church gasped when the Choir Director led them in:
'Why Not Tonight'?

Truthfully, no one was surprised when the Pastor resigned a week later, explaining that Jesus had led him there and that Jesus was leading him away.

The Choir Director could not resist:
'What A Friend We Have In Jesus.'

Mission #2... What lies under the bed?

As you can see in the title, Mission #2 is complete! I am a changed person!! My mom and I jerked the mattresses off my bed, and I went to town cleaning under there! It was quite interesting really. I have a fan in my room that is remote controlled; a couple of YEARS ago the remote disappeared. I searched and searched for that thing. I even looked under the bed (hoping there were no monsters... lol) but no luck. Then when I moved my dresser (Mission #1), a HUGE dust bunnie came out. I thought, "Man. That is one big bunnie!" But then I looked closer (gross) and saw that this d.b. had buttons. It was my remote for my fan!! I was so excited. I washed it off with warm soapy water and it was as good as new!

I have TMJ. It's a syndrome in the jaw that sometimes can cause it to lock. On certain days, it can also be more painful that other days. It's common cause is the grinding of teeth, especially while asleep. I bought a mouth guard many, many months ago that you wear at night to prevent your teeth from grinding together. I wore it the night I bought it. When I woke up, it wasn't in my mouth; it wasn't on my bed; it wasn't anywhere!! I honestly thought I had swallowed the thing! But, when I moved the mattresses and videos, magazines, CDs, and everything else that was under the bed, there it was! Just laying on the floor.

I was hoping I would find something great, wonderful, and exciting under there... Like money or something! lol. But it was all dust, a remote, and a mouth piece. So thus completes Mission #2.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://anotefromjacob.blogspot.com/2008/08/mission-2-what-lies-under-bed.html' title='Mission #2... Moving the furniture...

Today I have been cleaning my room. It's 6:30 right now and I have been cleaning since 1:00!!! I moved my dresser, nightstand, and chest, and got all the dust bunnies out. I can honestly say that I have not cleaned my room like this since I first moved into it.. almost 4 years ago!!!! EWW!!!!! But with the help of a trusty Rainbow vacuum cleaner, a Swiffer mop, and nerves of steel, I faced the dust bunnies head-on!! I also Pledged everything in my room - except for my bed, which I'll hopefully get to tomorrow - and now it's all sparkly! :D I also tackled my window and blinds.

So thus completes Mission 1... Our average was 95 a night with 46 bus kids and 59 who had perfect attendence! Our commencement was this past Friday night and we had a FULL HOUSE! Praise the Lord! Pastor Setzer preached a wonderful commencement message.

Then Saturday morning we had a service at Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. WOW!! It was one of the best services we've had yet!! The spirit of the Lord was just so awesome and I firmly believe he touched lives and lives were changed. Some of the young people performed a skit called "Everything." And, oh my goodness, I cried like a baby! I have this video posted on my blog. Get your tissue ready. I'm serious! It gave me the Holy Ghost goosebumps!!

That night we headed down to Greenville, SC, to set up sound at the First Wesleyan Church. What a beautiful church!! I had went there back in April to see my friends The Collingsworth Family during a service. During their set, Bro. Phil (Mr. Collingsworth) asked me to play a piano solo while the church took up the offering. I played "I've Just Seen Jesus" and gave the minister of music my card and the group card. At the end of June, he called and asked if we would like to sing (and me play) at a piano dedication concert at their church! I was overjoyed!! So, this past Sunday morning, I played and the group sang, and the spirit met with us! It was an awesome church! Everyone their was so sweet! Read more about it on Blood Bought's Blog.

So now things are beginning to calm down a little bit, at least until this weekend then we'll be hitting the road again for a busy, busy, busy August! But I'm glad. It keeps me on my toes. :)

'Til next time, I love you all!

-Jacob
Pro. 3:9

Update

Bible school is going just great!!! Praise the Lord at the amount of kids we've had this year!! We started off Sunday night with 78 kids + many many helpers; then Monday night our number grew to 91 kids + helpers; Tuesday we had close to 100 kids!!!; and tonight (Wednesday) we had around 91 again! God is just doing awesome things, and I'm actually learning things I've never really noticed before. I'll share with you later on what these things are. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children.
The teacher asked a little boy: Tommy, do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see God up there?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see
God because he isn't there. Well, I have finished the book and all I can say is, wow. It is a very good book, but you should be very strong in your view of God before you read it. If not, some things can be confusing. But it was a wonderful read!! If you are looking for a good book to read, I do recommend The Shack by William P. Young.

Weekend

Hey!!! Hi!!!! Hello!!!!! All that good stuff. lol.

Had a great and busy weekend. On Friday night, we sang at Ebenezer Garden's Christian Childrens' Home in Wilkesboro, NC. My, oh my, what an awesome time we had!! This Children's home is SO special. They have four homes that house 33 children. These children have either been abused "physically" or verbally; it is really a sad situation, but the ministry at Ebenezer is awesome! Courtney did an awesome write-up about it on the group's new blog. Please go check it out!! http://www.bloodboughttrio.blogspot.com/ On Saturday morning, we sang at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Hickory and we had fun! I love going to places like that and singing and playing to the older folk that can't get around easily. Then Monday night we sang at Happy Trails Cowboy Church. And boy, did we have fun!! I think Brittney will be posting a write-up about it on the group blog so, I won't spoil any surprises. :) This weekend we're off to Columbia, SC, to sing in a big talent show down there. Please say a prayer for us! The grand prize is studio time and a single on the radio!!! :o :D I'll be blogging about it when we get back. There are pics of this past weekend, and of all our services, on our website.

I hope that you all have a wonderful rest of your week!

-Jacob

There's a new blogger in town!!

Hey everyone!!!
I wanted to let you know that my sister (Brandy) has started blogging!! The Bible says to "give thanks in everything" (Heb. 13:15)

America is experiencing something I think is interesting. On the west coast, they seem to be having no end of wildfires; in the great plains region, they have been almost washed away; and on the east coast, we have been nearly parched. Enjoy!

A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the preacher decided to visit him. It was a chilly evening. The preacher found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire.Guessing the reason for his preachers visit, the man welcomed him, led him to comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited. The preacher made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the preacher took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone then he sat back in his chair, still silent. The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember's flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead. Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The preacher glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it. As the preacher reached the door to leave, his host said with a tear running down his cheek, 'Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the fiery sermon. I shall be back in church next Sunday.'

We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with too little. Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are the ones left unspoken.

If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything!

-Jacob :)

Camping!

I got home last night at about 12:00AM after two days of camping, and boy was it fun!!! I went with my sister, my nephew (Caleb), and some ppl from her church. We left at about 1:30 Thursday afternoon and went to Elk Creek in Happy Valley. We unloladed and set up all our gear, then we just kinda sat around and stared at each other for a bit. lol. All the kids (There were 4 - Caleb, Jordan, Ryan, and Mark) wanted to play in the creek, so we pumped up some pool floats we brought and they went and splashed around there for the rest of the evening. Kris started making some hamburgers and hot dogs around supper time, and they were good! After everyone ate, we all went down and built a campfire. Preacher Ron asked everyone to get in a circle around the fire and we had a devotional from the book of 2 Corinthians. After he read and explained the Scripture, he asked everyone to share something they were thankful for. It was truly a moment. After we did that, Preacher Ron opened in prayer and everyone who wanted to pray aloud could after Ron opened up. It was so special. After our prayers we all had a big group hug, then made the most traditional camping treat... Smores!!! We even had strawberry flavored marshmallows!! They were yummy! By now it was nearly 1:00am and everyone was starting to turn in, so we all said goodnight and headed to the tents. Well, at least the women and I did, all the other guys and the kids were fishing! I'm not real big on fishing so I just turned in. Later that night (probably around 1:30), Everyone came back from the fishing. Caleb was asleep, but he was a little chilly so Brandy asked Kris to get him an extra blanket from her car. This is how the conversation went:
Brandy whispered, "Kris,... Kris,..... KRIS!" Come 'ere." He came with his flashlight. B, "Shine that light in here so I can talk to you." (lol) He did. She said, "Will you go to my car and get that Winnie the Pooh blanket?" The preacher's wife in the next tent just BURST out laughing as did Kris. He said, "Winnie the Pooh? Ok." So while he was walking to her car he started singing, "Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, cuddly little..." (I can't remember all the words, but that's what he sang! lol) The whole camp started laughing.
The next day, everyone was awakened by Kris singing "Winnie the Pooh." The men started making breakfast, and when they finished, out came eggs (at least I think that's what that was... lol) bacon, sausage, and gravy. Everything was great, except for the gravy! Sorry Jonathan! The kids pretty much played in the creek all day, as did the adults and me. We walked up the creek, Kris found just the backbone of a snake, and we even got hit by a thunderstorm. But it was fun!!

Reading

I just finished reading "The Left Behind" adult series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. It makes you think about how blessed we REALLY are.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world.
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world.
If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.
If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, especially in this World today.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.
If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all.
You are so blessed in ways you may never even know.

I would like to leave you with the words to one of my favorite hymns, "Count Your Blessings."

Verse 1) "When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed, when you are discouraged thinking all is lost, count your many blessings name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done!"

Chorus) "Count your blessings name them one by one, count your blessings see what God hath done; Count your blessings name them one by one, count your many blessings see what God hath done."

Be blessed!

Jacob

Two weeks of singing, one week of revival, one day of traveling, and one tired boy!!

For the past two weeks, I've been pretty much run ragged!

On June 17 & 19, Blood Bought went out to the middle of no where to sing at South Mountain Christian Camp. We had an awesome time! On Tuesday (17) a nine-year-old boy gave his heart to the Lord!! On Thursday (19) two young people got saved!! Praise the Lord!! It was so incredible. We sang the song "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone", and all the kids began to sing along with us! It was incredible. I have pictures in the slideshow at the bottom of this entry.

On June 20, I went to Singing In the Foothills in Wilkesboro. What an awesome concert! All the proceeds go to support a local Christian Children's Home. What a great cause!! And the groups that were there were top-notch. The Booth Brothers, Gold City, The Collingsworth Family, Ivan Parker, and many more national recording artists were there. It was so good to see my friends - particularly The Booth Bros and the Collingsworth Family - that I've made throughout the years that I've been traveling.

June 21. Wow! What a day this was!! I woke up, and began to get ready to play for a wedding. Not just anybody's wedding... Matt Baker and Ashley Henry (my cousin) tied the knot after almost 6 years of dating! Aww! The wedding was absolutely beautiful!! After I finished with the wedding, I met up with Brittney and Courtney and we went to the 2nd night of Singing In the Foothills. The concert was awesome that night as well! Reggie Saddler and his family were there, along with my dear friends Karen Peck & New River; The Talley Trio and The McKameys were there as well and were AWESOME as usual!

The next week, my home church had revival with Bro. Brian McBride! I was spiritually refreshed!! Brian is an incredible preacher. He has the power of God on him. His messages were taken from the book of Romans, primarily chapters 8 thru 11. He brought out some points that I had never seen before.

Then, the following Saturday, we loaded up our "bus" (our 2001 Ford Expedition and 6' x 8' trailer to be precise lol) and headed down to Marion, SC for a concert. And what a time we had!! There were 3 soloists and 1 group (Blood Bought) that sang. Mr. RJ Henderson started off and did a fantastic job!! He's only 15, but he had incredibly vocal abilities! Then Mr. Adam Broyles came to the stage. He is only 14, but wow, oh wow, can he sing! Then My good friend Terry Carter came to the stage and sang his way into our hearts! Then Blood Bought sang. The service was so incredible!!

The next day, we loaded up once again and headed back home. It took us literally all day to get here, but we made it. :)

That brings us to today, and it's been nice just to be at home and rest. I love to travel and sing, but it is very tiring. It's also rewarding. I just for someone to come up to me after a service and tell me how they were down but that after hearing our singing, their spirits were lifted. It's incredible... It makes it worth every mile and every lost hour of sleep.

Ok. Here's the pictures! I hope you enjoy them!!

Love you all,
-Jacob

Pictures

Here are some slideshows with some pics I think y'all will enjoy!

Some Family Pictures.

My trip to Pensacola, FL.

Mother's Day.

I'll be posting some pictures of my services with Blood Bought soon! Truth of the matter is, it's been like a whirlwind around here!!

Let's see... Where do I begin?! Well, since I haven't updated since the middle of FEBRUARY, I've got to bring you up to speed on what's been going on since then. So buckle your seatblet, 'cause we're going for a ride! lol

The middle of February, I went on a trip to Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL, with some of the teens from Heritage Christian School (The school where I work.) Wow. That was truly an experience. The college is so awesome! It's a beautiful campus. And their chapel is incredible! Only bad thing is... While I was down there, I got very sick. I mean SICK! I laid in the bed literally all day Thursday, and half the day Friday! But Friday evening I started feeling better, and the group went to the beach! All I can say is WOW! You'll see in the pictures in the slideshow of how beautiful it is.

As the months have passed, I've been busy working on 2 CDs. Yes, 2!! The first of which is, at long last, COMPLETE! It's my group's CD. We're so very excited about it!! It's been great just being at home. The group didn't have anywhere to sing, so I took advantage of it. On Saturday, Me and Daddy, Mama, Brandy, and Caleb all went out to eat. Then after that, Me, Brandy, and Caleb went to the mall! That was fun! Went to Aeropostale and found out they were having a REALLY good sale. I got a t-shirt that was originally $32.50 (YIKES!!!) for 7 bucks!! Can't beat that! Then we went to.... Ugh... Bath & Body Works. Very boring. Brandy was taking her time so me and Caleb went right outside the door and found a couple of massage chairs!! So, I put a dollar in the machine, and received a fantastic massage! It was kinda funny... Here's me and this little 6 year old in the middle of the mall going, "Whoo!! This feels GOOD!! Keep it coming!" LOL. But we had fun!

The group went to the studio on Thursday (Jan. 31) and knocked out 6 songs in 2 & 1/2 hours for our first project!! It was a great experience! We're going back tomorrow. Please be in prayer for us!!! Here are some pics!

Snow!!

Hey people!! :)

We had our first SNOW a couple of days ago!!! ME!! lol. On Saturday, Dec. 29 (2007) I went to Sanford, NC with the other group I play for, Adoration. We were in concert with Unity Qt., Mercy's Reign, Randy Miller, Adoration, and Karen Peck & New River!!! WOW!!! What an awesome concert this was!! Karen sang "The Star Spangled Banner" and knocked it outta the park!! She gave an invitation at the end of the concert. Devon (her tenor singer) asked me to play I Surrender All while she gave the plan of salvation, and, praise the Lord, 5 people gave their hearts to Jesus!! It was absolutley FANTASTIC!!!!!

Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, BBT went to Galivants Ferry, SC, for a watchnight service. We sang in the new year. What a wonderful service this was!! Pastor Marty was so nice, and his church was very friendly! We sang for about 30 mins, then my dad preached a message entitled, "When God Shows Up." That message is still with me even today! He talked about events in the Bible where all hope seemed to be gone, such as when Shadrac, Michac, and Abednigo were thrown into the firey furnace. It seemed like all hope was lost, but God showed up! It was awesome!! Then we sang for another 40 or so minutes. After that, Pastor Marty called everyone in the church up to the altar so we could pray in the new year. We prayed while the clock struck 12:00am! Afterwards, we had refreshments in the fellowship hall. All I can say is, GOD IS GOOD!!!!!

Ok, so... I think that pretty much brings you up to speed on almost everything that's been going on around here lately!! If it hasn't, I'm sure my sister Brandy will inform me of something I've forgotten!! LOL :) I love you "sister"!!!

I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed weekend!

Love,
~Jacob

Sorry it's been so long

HEY EVERYBODY!!!!!

Long time no talk!! So so so so SO sorry!! It's just been incredibly busy around here for the past two months! Things are starting to slow down some now... key word "some"! The truth is, I just love staying busy!!

Well, Christmas has come and gone, almost like it was never here!! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday filled with love, peace, and the joy of Jesus' birth! This year I got a digital picture frame (:D :D), lots of clothes, an ipod, and lots of other goodies! But one of the best things I got was a new puppy!! Here's the story:

On December 8th, Mama, Daddy, and myself were all in our computer talking about my schedule and stuff like that. After a while, Mama went to the kitchen to fix us all some peanut butter sandwiches. I sat down at our bar and was watching TV when I saw Mama look out the kitchen window. She gasped and said, "Oh my goodness! Ricky, come here, hurry! I think that big dog has just killed Otis!!" Daddy (still in his pajamas) flew out the door, scooped Otis up and went straight to the vet. Mama and I threw some clothes on and followed him. When we got to the vet's office, the receptionist told us which room they were in. When we went to the room, Daddy was sitting in the chair weeping and said, "He's gone." :'( I'll bet you we stood in that room and wept for half an hour! We were so attached to him... Then, about a week later, Brittney mentioned to me that her grandma's dog had just had puppies and that they would be ready in two weeks. I talked to Mama and Daddy about it, and they agreed to get one!! :D So, we now have a 7 week old pup in the family!!

This is Simon Peter Crisp (we call him Pete or Petey!) Isn't he adorable?!

He's already adapted to the "traveling lifestyle." The day we got him, we went to set up our sound system at a church we were supposed to be at Sunday. Then the next day, he had the house to himself while I went to Sanford, NC to be with Adoration and Karen Peck & New River. The following Monday, Blood Bought had a New Year's Eve service to sing at in Galivants Ferry, SC! So Pete got to take his first road trip!! He did so great!

Well, the new year has arrived! Did you make any resolutions this year? I told myself that I was going to start getting up every morning by 7:00. Well................. Yeah that's not working out too well!! lol. Pete helps somewhat though. He takes turns sleeping with me and Mama. When he sleeps with me, he usually does get me up by 7:15 am. Although he did manage to get me up at 4:30 this morning!!!!! I'll have to say, it does make you feel better!! And I get a lot more stuff done!!

Let's see, what's next? lol. I FEEL LIKE I'VE BETRAYED Y'ALL!!! After all, it has been more than a month since I've blogged. :( I've got so much to tell you about. Let's start with Blood Bought's anniversary party. Ready? Set?? Here we go!!! ;)

Monday, December 31, 2007, was BBT's (Blood Bought Trio's) 1 year anniversary!! YAY!!!! We held a singing/party on January 5th. We had 3 groups, 2 adult soloists, and 2 kid soloists. Caleb (my nephew) sang "Nothing But the Blood" and brought the house down!! Sarah (Brittney's little sister) sang "I've Got A Right To Pray" and did AWESOME!!! Then Matt Baker sang "Oh What A Savior" and a song he wrote, and did a SUPER job. Quentin then sang "Only One Life" and "The Midnight Cry". Whew! Holy Ghost chills covered me! It was great!!

Sweetbriar Jam (a teenage bluegrass group) opened the service up and did a FANTASTIC job!! Wow! What talent these kids have!! I think everyone was in awe! Then Unity, a great family group from Columbia, SC, came and sang their way into our hearts!! They were AWESOME as usual!! Then BBT ended everything up. The Spirit was so present during the singing. One lady rededicated her life to Jesus!!! AMEN!!! That's what it's all about!!

Well, I must go now and get ready for church, but I PROMISE, there's still LOTS MORE to come!!!! There were small flakes of snow just a-blowin' through the air. It was so pretty! It's pretty much stopped now, but it was nice while it lasted!! I hope we have a good winter this year. By "good winter" I mean that I hope we have some snow this year. Last year it was a very mild winter... No snow at all. :( It's been breezy and cool today.. Just the way I like it... I guess it's because I'm hot-natured. But I'm gonna have to pack some short sleeved stuff for our big trip to Texas next week!! Did I mention it's only FOUR MORE DAYS?!?! It's a time where we make our mashed taters, cream our corn, fry our squash, and have family to gather around the table. Some families hand out dried corn before the meal, then have everyone share what they're thankful for, and drop the corn in a basket. Others simply cook a meal and have a time of wonderful conversation. I love both these traditions. Here are some things I'm thankful for: My salvation, my parents, my talent, my Savior most of all. He's been with me whenever I go through the storms of life. You know, that's how it is sometimes. Our life can be going so good. Things are going our way, we've not had any car trouble, no family bickers, no one has been "mean" to us. Then all of a sudden... BANG! Something happens; a family member may die, we may come down with a long-term illness, and we wonder, "God, why me?? I'm doing everything I can for you, I go to church every single time the doors are open, I try to live a holy life..... why me?" Instead of questioning God, we should do as Ephesians 5:20 says to do... "Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." God has a purpose for everything. I heard a preacher say this one time, and I really love it... If God brought you to it... He will bring you through it! I'm really not sure why I said all that, but maybe somebody needed to be encouraged. HAPPY THINKSGIVING!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Love,
~Jacob

Hey ya'll!
Well, this is probably going to be a fairly long entry! I've got a lot to tell you about!!...

This past Friday (Nov. 3), I went with the school where I work (Heritage Christian School) to Piedmont Baptist College for their annual choral festival. We got there around 10:30am and we first went to attend a concert that the faculty had prepared for us. The music was simply phenomenal!! One gentleman played a piano solo called "Danzas Argentinas, Opus #2." The piece consisted of three different "songs" all blended into one beautiful masterpiece. I was completely blown away!! After that we had lunch, then went to our rehearsals. We sang literally ALL DAY LONG!! We now know the song "O Sifuni Mungu" which means "All Creatures of Our God and King" in African. With no instrumental accompaniment, aside from a shaker egg and a Dumbec, we, along with another Christian school and the Chorale at PBC, lifted our voices together in praise! I also had the privilege to play a piano solo during the concert. I played a beautiful rendition of "How Great Thou Art" on a 8' Steinway & Sons Concert Grand Piano! :D I was on cloud nine headed for ten!!! It was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!

The next day, however, was not so pleasant. I woke up that morning sick as could be. X-( The group had a service to do that evening in Boone, and I couldn't make it. :'( However, Brittney went on and sang some with some of her soundtracks. THANK YOU BRITT!!! I LOVE YA!!!!!! Sunday I started to feel better, and even made it to church Sunday night.

Yesterday was another exciting day!! My Grandmother and two of her friends are flying down to Texas to visit her son (my uncle.... obviously lol) and his wife who are missionaries in Mexico. She called Monday morning and asked if we had our tickets yet. We told her we weren't sure if we were going to be able to go or not..... But God made a way!! What a weekend this has been!!!!

The church youth group went to Brian's house (he's a new member that owns a 16 acre "ranch") We had SO much fun!! We roasted hot dogs, ate smores, and had a great time of fellowship! I ate 2 ballpark franks and 4 SMORES!!! I was about to explode! lol. Brian also owns 2 llamas! Thank the good Lord, neither of them spit on me! We had a great time!

Sunday morning we headed to Poarch Chapel Missionary Methodist Church. My goodness!!! What an AWESOME service we had! The presence of the Lord was already meeting with us during the Sunday School hour. Words really cannot describe the service. My good buddy Chris Whisnant [formerly the piansist for East Hudson Baptist Church (Brittney's church)] came and played the drums with us on a couple of our songs. Tony (Britt's dad) played the bass while I played my solo. He told me after church that he had a hard time keeping up with me 'cause of the... what he called "college chords" I would put in the song! lol... Sorry 'bout that, Tony!!

That evening, we trucked up the mountain in our "bus"
(see pic to left... lol.) It's the closest thing we've got to a bus anyway!! Anyway, we made our way to Cornerstone Baptist Church. I like to call this "the Powerhouse Church" since every time we go up there, the Lord works miracles, gives someone encouragement or, what it's all about, saves a soul. That's the purpose of my traveling and spreading the good news. I'll echo Courtney and say, "If one soul gets saved, then it's worth it all!'' And that is so true.

Well, now things are starting to slow down a little bit. I'm glad to be back at my home church now! Especially since we're doing a Christmas cantata this year! I think that will be great!!

Love,
Jacob

From Fayetteville to Taylorsville

This past Friday (the 19) Daddy and I traveled the straight and narrow road that led to Lumberton, NC. The concert was at the Southeast Agricultural Center and featured, Adoration Qt., Mercy's Reign, Unity Qt., and The Freemans!!! This was an incredible not concert... But SERVICE!! The Holy Spirit began to move, lives were touched,

it was incredible! I played with Adoration Qt. that night. They're a really great all male quartet based out of Goldsboro, NC. We have a large concert coming up November 30, with Gold City, Karen Peck & New River, The Kingsmen & others!! I believe that's going to be an INCREDIBLE night as well! Bro. Terry (from Adoration) so graciously asked me to play with them then, as well as a few concert/services before that, so everyone could "get the feel of things." By golley, I think we've got it!! lol. The concert on Nov. 30 is in Supply, NC (near Wilmington) at the Brunswick Community College. Please be in prayer! If you would like to come to the concert, you may email me or visit my website for directions... www.jacobcrispministries.com

The next day, Saturday the 20, Blood Bought Trio sang at the Apple Festival in downtown Taylorsville! WOW!!! What an awesome Spirit there was there! Folks were raising there hands, standing in praise, and worshipping our Savior. Our friends, The Whisnants, actually sang before us! They are such sweet people, and their harmony is remarkable. BBT sang and once again, the Holy Spirit moved as we sang. It truly was awesome!

We've got yet another busy weekend soming up! Poarch's Chapel Missionary Methodist Church this Sunday morning, and Cornerstone Baptist Church Sunday evening!! We can't wait!!

I love you all. Thank you for all your love and support for my ministry... It really does mean a lot!!

Love,

Jacob

The First Entry

Hey everyone!
Well... Here it is! My very first blog entry! I've finally "caught up with the times." I hope you'll enjoy reading about my weekend experiences with the group (Blood Bought.) Boy, sometimes we get ourselves into some pretty funny situations. I'll not tell all the stories just yet, but this one is on my mind. The other week, Courtney and I went and sang at ... get this... Cricket Baptist Church. Wow! What a sweet, sweet spirit there was there! Before the service began, Court and I were talking about how close our friendship was. She said, "Jake, you're like my brother!" I said, "I know girl! You're just like a sister to me." "It's almost like we know what each other is thinking," she said, "Kinda like we have espN or something!!" LOL!!! Do any of you get that? If not, you will in a minute... maybe. :) You see, ESP means:
extrasensory perception: perception or communication outside of normal sensory capability, as in telepathy (communication between minds by some means other than sensory perception.) Now, you sports fans out there know what ESPN is... It's a Sports News channel on TV! Bless her heart, she got it all mixed up! Needless to say, we have a lot of fun!
Well, I think I'm going to post another blog now and tell you about my weekend ;)

Have a great day!!
Jacob
